A Documentary
I asked my K class to help me with a passion project. You simply choose something that is important to you, and try to address the things that might be impacting it. We love our outdoor spaces - we even named them Knooks. What was making me mad was that there was always garbage in them everytime we went to play. The Kindergarten class helped me make a documentary ( really a PSA : ) to inform the other kids at our school about the problem.
This project was completed using one personal iPad.
Inquiry and Place Based Learning
Engaging children in inquiry learning requires frontloading, luck, timing, and planning. In this project, I structured the process, the product, and created a story board that guided the inquiry.
Planning for these projects can feel overwhelming. Concept maps, story boards, and structure are the foundation for being able to take tangents.
Connecting the Dots is a resourse created by Learning for a Sustainable Future. It offers guidance, structure, and possibility for teachers planning a large inquiry.
